North Reading/Lynnfield lost a close semifinal match to Wayland, 30-28, to finish third at the Coaches Division 3 Dual Meet state tournament at Wakefield. It was the first dual-meet loss for North reading Lynnfield after 54 straight victories. Tom Arseneault continued his superb season with three wins at 220 for North Readng, which is 24-1 this year.

After trailing 6-4 going into the fourth quarter, Valenti tied the game with just over a minute left in regulation then fed Carbone with 30 seconds left in OT for the game-winner. Strong defensive play from Chris Schipelliti, Brian Smith and Conor Murnane combined with big saves from goalie Andrew Burns to set the stage for the win.
