North Reading/Lynnfield lost a close semifinal match to Wayland, 30-28, to finish third at the Coaches Division 3 Dual Meet state tournament at Wakefield. It was the first dual-meet loss for North reading Lynnfield after 54 straight victories. Tom Arseneault continued his superb season with three wins at 220 for North Readng, which is 24-1 this year.

STONEHAM — For the better part of 15 minutes, it appeared Andover had taken control.

Trailing by two goals after one period, the Golden Warriors’ Tyler Weeks finished off an outstanding give-and-go with a shorthanded goal to cut the deficit to one just under three minutes into the second — and turn the momentum sharply in Andover’s favor.

Methuen's wrestling team placed fifth at the Wakefield Tournament and had three champions. Freshman Billy Wehring was first at 113, defeating returning New England placer Ben Defronzo along the way, while Christian Monserrat (126) and Mike Golio (220) were also champions. Monserrat pinned his way through the tourney and Golio catured hid first tournament title.

North Andover dropped another tough postseason decision last night as fifth-seeded Wakefield handed the top-seeded Scarlet Knights a 47-45 defeat in the semifinals of the Division 2 North Sectionals at Woburn High School.

Eric Valenti and Cody Carbone came through big-time for North Reading in a 7-6 overtime victory against host Wakefield. After trailing 6-4 going into the fourth quarter, Valenti tied the game with just over a minute left in regulation then fed Carbone with 30 seconds left in OT for the game-winner. Strong defensive play from Chris Schipelliti, Brian Smith and Conor Murnane combined with big saves from goalie Andrew Burns to set the stage for the win.

Freshman Mikayla Penneton potted her first two career goals and senior Morgan Muccia added her first goal of the season as Andover bested Wakefield 6-3. Back from her torn ACL, Kyla Mosquera notched her second win of the season in goal with 12 saves.

 The North Reading wrestling team ended the year with a sweep of a quad-meet at Wakefield to improve to 7-2, which is beyong coach Craig Stone's expectations.

 Saint Anselm's Tucker Mullin of Andover has been named Player of the Week in both the Northeast-10 and the ECAC East for his extremely productive offense last week. Additionally, he earned the honor of NE-10 Freshman of the Week.

The Wakefield defense was no match for Joe Natale, who scored six goals and assisted on two others as Haverhill earned a 15-10 win.
