Escapes hangover

 

After battling Andover to a 1-1 tie two days earlier, Central Catholic's girls soccer team  was not emotionally high for Matignon yesterday, but the Raiders rallied for a 3-2 victory, scoring with only a minute remaining on an Alex Nagri goal assisted from Alexa Poulin, who had two assists on the day.

Hillies in finals

 

Haverhill scored all its goals in the third period to blank Matignon 4-0 in the semifinals of the Newburyport Bank Classic. Casey Sweeney had two goals, Ernie Lupi had a goal and two assists and Jeff Roberts chipped in with three assists for the Hillies, who will play the Revere-Triton winner in the finals tomorrow. Gray Marchese made 24 saves for his first shutout.

LOWELL — Heavily favored Georgetown got off to a miserable start in the Division 4 championship game yesterday, falling behind by five runs before even getting its first chance to bat.
