Daejon Pendelton-Mills was the hero for Haverhill boys basketball in a 48-47 win over previously-unbeaten Lowell Catholic (5-1). With one second left, the 6-foot-2 senior blocked Lowell Catholic's final attempt to secure the win for the Hillies (2-5), who trailed by nine points entering the fourth quarter. 

Pentucket's boys basketball team placed four players in double figures on its way to a 72-69 victory over Lowell Catholic, keeping the Sachems unbeaten at 5-0. Jake Etter led the balanced attack with 17 points while  Spencer Pacy added 14.

Abdiel Tavarez and Greater Lawrence volleyball put in their best performance of the season in a 3-0 sweep of Lowell Catholic. The freshman had a season-high 22 assists, as the Reggies (9-7) qualified for the state tournament.

Alicia Habib hit a three-run homer, her third home run in three days, as Whittier beat Lowell Catholic 4-0. Nicole Verrette allowed just two hits, while Kaley Thibault excelled on defense at third as the Wildcats avenged one of their two losses this spring.

Inserted into the starting lineup as the first freshman setter in Greater Lawrence's brief history, Abdiel Tavarez came through with 19 assists as the Reggies outlasted Lowell Catholic in a five-set marathon. In the first set, the Reggies rebounded from a 15-3 deficit to win 31-29.

HAVERHILL — Maybe it's the recent cold weather, but the Whittier Tech bats are in a softball slump.

 For the second straight game, the Wildcats couldn't get anything going on offense, falling to Lowell Catholic, 3-1.

Senior Demario Scarpegnato pumped in 30 points to lead Whittier to a 70-50 win over Lowell Catholic. Kevin Bradley knocked down four 3's and finished with 17 points for the Wildcats.

After its first loss of the season, the Whittier boys basketball team bounced back with a victory over Lowell Catholic. Anthony Buckley and Demario Scarpegnato each had 19 points for the Wildcats (8-1).

Gus Flaherty erupted for 16 points, including four 3-pointers, in the first quarter alone and finished the day with a career-best 28 points as Pentucket rolled over Lowell Catholic 85-58. Football teammate Nate McGrail added 14 points.

LOWELL — Georgetown went to Lowell Catholic and came away with a 26-9 win in a non-playoff game. The Royals improved to 4-5 while the hosts dropped to 4-4 and have now lost three straight games.
