Nick Enxing, Andover: The junior linebacker picked off a pair of Lowell passes in the first half, returning one for a 35-yard touchdown. He added eight tackles for the Golden Warriors, who lost to the Red Raiders, 27-20.

Joe Napolitano and Jordan Johnson, Brooks: Napolitano, a senior running back, rushed for just 24 yards, but scored two big touchdowns for the Green and White, who couldn't quite pull off the upset over Nobles. QB Johnson rushed for 74 yards on 10 carries, including a 65-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Tommy LaCroix, Central: With limited opportunities, the senior halfback put a serious dent in Methuen, carrying nine times for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Jaymie Spears, Georgetown: Who needs practice. In his first game as a receiver, the basketball star caught six passes for 156 yards and a touchdown in the Royals 39-6 win over Hamilton-Wenham. The performance was the area’s top receiving game this season, and he rushed five times for a game-high 62 yards and another score. Not bad for a guy who was that backup quarterback for the first six weeks of the season.

Anthony Conte, Georgetown: Prolific QB Joe Esposito threw for a career-high 272 yards, and Conte was a big part. He caught four passes for 73 yards and a 7-yard touchdown, the Royals’ first TD of the day.

Juan Olivo, Greater Lawrence: Wadscar Gomez found the end zone three times in the Reggies' 28-8 victory over Lynn Tech., but defensive tackle Juan Olivo overshadowed him with a handful of huge hits on Tigers players. Olivo racked up five solo tackles, including three that went for losses.

Evan Pare, Haverhill: Like every other MVC team, the Hillies had few answers for the Dracut juggernaut. But Pare proved they, nonetheless, wouldn't back down. In a memorable mano a mano with 240-pound quarterback Matt Grimard, both gave it their best, shot and Pare brought the likely league MVP down hard.

Matt Charest, Londonderry: Although the Lancers suffered a disappointing 42-25 loss at the hands of Nashua South, Charest's foot provided some highlights. He coolly split the uprights with no time left in the half on a 33-yard field goal and also drilled both his PATs.

Sean Cairns, Methuen: With the score knotted at 7-7, the senior linebacker ended a late first half scoring threat by Central with a gigantic interception. Cairns finished with eight tackles as the Rangers ended a 12-year hex against the Raiders with the huge win.

Brandon Walsh, North Andover: The freshman quarterback had a veteran's poise and impressive numbers (12 for 22, 134 yards, three touchdowns) in a double overtime victory over Triton. Walsh threw for all 16 points in the extra sessions, none bigger than the two-point conversion toss to sophomore David Foote that was the winning score.

Chris Modlish, Pentucket: Returning to practice just two days before the game after missing substantial time with a shoulder separation, the Sachem senior dominated Lawrence, carrying 12 times for 149 yards in the Saturday win. Modlish scored three times.

Joe DeAngelo, Pelham: With Bruce Vieira leaving the game with an injury, DeAngelo provided the offense. He completed six passes for 117 yards in the 24-6 win over Stevens.

Sam Clark and Louis Jacoubs, Phillips: Former Andover High standout Clark made nine tackles and picked off a pass as the Big Blue rolled past Worcester Academy 55-6. Jacoubs added a team-high 11 tackles and added a sack.

Colby Verge and Zach Tulley, Pinkerton: When Manchester Central was doggedly moving the ball downfield against the Astros, the pair helped keep the game scoreless. With three Little Green receivers standing around, Tulley jumped on a dropped backward pass at the Pinkerton 36 to kill Central's first drive. Later, Verge grabbed an overthrown pass at his own 9 and advanced it 31 yards, ending a 58-yard march.

Tom Tarallo, Salem: West quarterback Beau Bretton will be seeing the 6-foot, 175-pound Tarallo in his sleep. All the senior did was pick off three passes and lead a defense that harassed the visitors into 4-for-23 passing for a mere 65 yards with four interceptions in a 34-14 win.

Matt Caiazzo and Jarred Diorio, Timberlane: The two unsung standouts stepped up for the Owls in a 37-7 win over Spaulding. Caiazzo caught four passes for 41 yards and a 19-yard touchdown, the first score of the day. Diorio kicked a 25-yard field goal and booted two PATs.

Carlos Candelario, Whittier: Long a key part of the Wildcats’ run-first offense, the junior halfback rushed for a game-high 118 yards on just 11 carries and touchdowns of 30 and 11 yards as Whittier downed Greater Lowell 26-0. The Wildcats need only beat winless Lynn Tech next week to clinch the Commonwealth Conference Large title.
