Junior catcher Courtney Green clobbered her second grand slam of the season, the big blow in a five-RBI day that powered North Andover past Manchester Essex, 8-0. Kim Crucioli had a season-high 11 strikeouts in the shutout.

A poor decision

With the lead run at third base and two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Manchester Essex decided to intentionally walk Ryan Browner to pitch to Mark Berkland. The Georgetown catcher made the Hornets pay, slapping a single to right center field that plated Dave Ingraham, and Dave Slack finished a fine mound effort to garner the 1-0 victory.
