Light weight, big victory

With his team traling by three points heading into the final match of the day, 103-pounder Mitch Rose scored a major decision with 10 seconds to go in his match to give Londonderry a 37-36 win over Hollis-Brookline. Kyle Byrd (132) was one of seven wrestlers to go undefeated on the day for the Lancers, who also beat Alvirne (51-10) and Windham (51-24).

Pinkerton's Laura Moran finished in third place by skiing her two races in a combined time of 57.24 at a New Hampshire eight-team meet. 

Moran's effort helped the Astros girls take second with 364 points.

Browne places second in 300

St. John's Prep sprinter Bryan Browne of Georgetown finished second in the 300 meter sprint (35.40) at the Tri County track and field league championship.

Browne's time was the second fastest time for the 300 in school history.

Two of the top teams in Division 1 squared off but in the end Londonderry just had too much for archrival Pinkerton. Lindsey Bolduc has 15 points, Katherine Dzenis 12 and Jaime King 10 as the Lancers rolled 50-36.

Astros soar to title

Behind gutsy performances from Grant Langevin and the 4x200 meter relay team, Pinkerton edged out Merrimack to take home the Division 1 state title for the first time since 1993.

In a meet at Dartmouth College that came down to that final relay, the Astros scored 68 points for the title, five more than Merrimack.
